Job Opportunity – Architectural Technician / PtII

Location: Kingsbridge, Devon (hybrid working available after 6 months)
Salary: Negotiable, based on experience
Contract: Full-time

Andrew Lethbridge Associates are seeking a CIAT-qualified Architectural Technician / Experienced RIBA Part II to join our busy, ethical, and creative practice. We specialise in residential and conservation projects, often in areas with complex planning requirements. Our work is rooted in sensitive, sustainable, ethical design.

Your main role will be to support the current team in production of detailed information and working drawing packages suitable for Building Regulations and Construction. This will include close liaison with other consultants, suppliers, and our Clients. As you progress, opportunities will be provided to manage your own projects from inception.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful, low-energy architecture in beautiful coastal and rural locations.

This job description reflects the core activities of the role although there will be changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support projects through RIBA Stages 0–7
  • Prepare and coordinate planning and building control applications
  • Produce technical drawings and production information in 2D and 3D (Revit LT preferred)
  • Organising and preparing presentation material including 2D sketching & in 3D
  • Drafting and amending technical designs and production information in CAD and by hand
  • Leading the integration of technical information and statutory requirements into design and production drawings
  • Leading in the preparation and collation of drawings and documents for planning and building control approval, tender and construction purposes
  • Researching project briefs, materials and construction products
  • Contributing effectively and professionally at both internal and external meetings
  • Conduct site visits, measured surveys, and prepare reports
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and craftspeople to deliver high-quality, sustainable design
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and scope
  • Mitigate and manage any scope creep by undertaking regular project reviews to assess progress against time and budget.

Ideal Candidate

  • CIAT-qualified or similar qualifications and technical experience
  • Strong knowledge of UK Planning and Building Regulations
  • Experience with Listed Buildings, conservation areas, and low-energy design
  • Working knowledge of Passivhaus principles (desirable but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Revit LTAutoCADSketchUp, and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of TwinMotion is desirable (training can be given)
  • A full UK driving licence and ability to work independently
  • A proactive, collaborative team player who can lead projects
