How to become a CarbonLite Certifier

Our Certifiers and Modellers are key to delivering the AECB CarbonLite™ Standards at scale whilst ensuring high quality new build and retrofit projects.

Approved Certifiers and Modellers will be required to attend quarterly CPD sessions, which includes group discussion and debate, to further refine and develop the CarbonLite™ Standards and the certification process.

You must be an AECB member to apply to become a Certifier and/or Modeller.

New Build Certifier

You must have one of the following :

  • Be a Passivhaus Certifier
  • Hold the CPHD/CPHC Qualification

Retrofit Certifier

You must have one of the following :

  • Be a Passivhaus Certifier
  • Hold the CPHD/CPHC Qualification
And have passed one of the following :
  • AECB CarbonLite™ Retrofit Foundation course (version C3 or later)
  • AECB CarbonLite™ Retrofit Coordination course
  • Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management
  • CPHD/CPHC additional certificate in Retrofit (by Passivhaus Institute)

Modeller

You will need to be / demonstrate one of the following :

  • Passivhaus Certifier
  • CPHD/CPHC Qualification
  • CPD Cert. in Building Energy Modelling using PHPP (by TU Dublin)
  • If you have completed any other PHPP training course, please provide the details, and a copy of your certificate in your application and we can review it. You MUST ALSO be able to provide evidence of 2 completed AECB or Passivhaus Standard projects, modelled in PHPP, that you have personally overseen and completed. An example of a PHPP training course would be the Passivhaus Trust PHPP Online Course (~30 hours)
